The current COVID-19 situation is forcing the organisers of the Athora Great Bruges Marathon to postpone the 4th edition by one year. There will be a virtual version of the event on 17th and 18th October 2020.

The Athora Great Bruges Marathon offers a unique mix of running through a Unesco World Heritage site, celebrating and enjoying great gastronomy. This year, the event was also going to count as the Belgian Championships Marathon. Under the current circumstances, it is no longer realistic to organise the event on 18th October, as we had originally envisaged.

As a society, we have to take our collective responsibility and comply with the measures currently issued by the authorities. It will require joint and large-scale efforts to get COVID-19 under control. Additionally, we as organisation have to also take our own responsibility to safeguard the health of participants, volunteers, spectators and all other people involved.

Proof of Registration

There will be a new physical edition of the Athora Great Bruges Marathon on 17th October 2021. Your proof of registration will automatically remain valid for the 2021 edition. Participants will not have to do anything else about that. Registration for the 2021 edition will open later this year.

Virtual edition on 17th and 18th October 2020

We would still like to offer you a new challenge this year. For that purpose, we are currently working on an alternative, digital version of the Athora Great Bruges Marathon. Keep an eye on our channels for more information to come out in the coming weeks.
