Moses MASAI (KEN)
When I was closing in on Bekele, I got scared. I told myself: "What's happening now? Bekele is running for a world record and I am running on his heels!!" I didn't expect to run a sub-27 race. I knew I was capable of running so fast, but I didn't expect it to happen today.

Walter DAVIS (USA)
I had a nice buildup tonight: it took me a couple of jumps to get into the rhythm. I was still confident for my last jump. I felt I could overtake Aarik Wilson for the first place. Actually, I still feel I can finish this season with a couple of good results. I still feel fresh, since I missed a part of the season after Paris due to an injury.

Wallace SPEARMON (USA)
I'm definitely happy because I did not win that many races this year, due to the tough competition. I'm also pleased with my 19.88: actually the conditions were perfect tonight and I experienced that Brussels really has a fast track. Think about JJ Johnson, who als ran a sub-20 here years ago.

Arnoud OKKEN (NED)

Mbulaeni MULAUDZI (RSA)
I'm surprised about my perfomance. I had never expected to be so close to the winner. After the deception of the world championships I took a break. I didn't run for more than a week. I only took up training last Tuesday, so I didn't hope for anything here in Brussels. I'm really surprised with my 2nd place.

David RUDISHA (KEN)
I came here in order to come close to my personal best and I beat it and I won. So you can imagine I'm very happy. Nevertheless the first lap went really fast. But I had enough left for the home straight. I drifted a little bit away from lane 1, yet no one managed to come through. Now I just want to get stronger. No, I don't even dare to dream about a world record.
Yelena SLESARENKO (RUS)
I'm quite happy with my performance today. Maybe In Berlin I can already take a revenge on Blanka Vlasic, although she's very strong this year. Maybe I have to wait until next year to beat her, but I will surely wan to make it a real battle with her.
Torri EDWARDS (USA)
After the 100 meters I said I wasn't happy because I didn't win. Now I'm 2nd again. Yeah, what can I do. Yet I have to enjoy the crowd. The best of all the Golden League meets.
J.J. JOHNSON (USA)
Hell no, I'm not happy at all with this race. Not enough stamin in the second 100 meters. It's already six years ago since I won the race here. I want to repeat that win. Quote me: I'll be back next year and I'll win

Xavier CARTER (USA)
I'm pretty satisfied about my race even though I begin to feel I'm tired. My beginning was good but I couldn't follow the rythm till the end.
Daniel Kipchirchir KOMEN (KEN)
In Zurich I already had the feeling that I was improving. And today my body felt really well. If I could have beaten Lagat today? I don't know. He's a very strong guy.
Carmelita JETER (USA)
I took a bad start. I tried to recover during the race, but I didn't succeed. It's okay, that's sport. I hope for a better performance in Berlin.
Torri EDWARDS (USA)
I'm not happy with my race at all. Of course not because I always want to be first. I think I rushed a little in my race.
Paul Kipsiele KOECH (KEN)
I'm very happy to win this race. It could have been faster in the first two kilometers: 5.18 or so. It was a long way to go when I came in front really early in the race. It was hard, but I proved I can do it.
Brimin KIPRUTO (KEN)
8.02 I improved my personal best by 2 seconds. The pacemakers were okay. I ran a perfect race. I'm very happy with that chrono. My defeat? It's okay that I was beaten by my Kenian brother Koech, even though I am the reigning world champion. Next year in the Olympics, I'll do my best to win, also from him.
Francis OBIKWELU (POR)
I'm disappointed. I'm still struggling to find the good mental shape. It's not a matter of physical condition. It's all in the head. My victory in Zurich helped me a lot after my disappoining performance (false start) in Osaka. But now I had a bad performance again. I don't know!
Jaysuma SAIDY NDURE (NOR)
Of course I'm satisfied about my race and my time, near my personal best (10'07). Even though, I think I could have done better because my start wasn't so good. I'm angry about the fact that I was placed in lane 9, the worst one. It was already the case in Zurich and I hope it won't be the same in Berlin. Give me lane 4 or 6 and you will see what I can do!
Susanna KALLUR (SWE)
This was a better race than I ran in Zurich. Especially on the last two hurdles I did a better job. Now there's still Berlin and Stuttgart to come: I hope for just a little bit better. It would be a dream to get a sub-12.50.
Nicola SANDERS (GBR)
Of course I'm happy with this result, because I have to come back in the rhythm after a couple of weeks without racing after Osaka. I was really exhausted in the end. Nevertheless, I'm happy with tonights 50.34. That would have been my PB before Osaka.
Delloreen ENNIS-LONDON (JAM)
Kallur kicked really hard from the start. I tried to make some ground on her on the last two hurdles, but my left leg didn't want to. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with my second place. In Berlin I even want to do better.
Michelle PERRY (USA)
I'm not totally satisfied about my race but it's normal. I felt I was a little bit tired today. My season was fantastic but maybe it was too long. I will now run two more times and then take some rest.
Jessica AUGUSTO (POR)
For my first experience here in Brussels and in the 2 miles race, it was fantastic! The crowd, the ambiance were incredible, and I finally finished 3 seconds above the European record. I didn't knew I was so close! Otherwise I'd ran faster towards the finish line...
Dayron ROBLES (CUB)
I won zurich. Now Brussels. Of course I am tired. I had to work hard for it. You know, everybody gives the best and they know that I am really the man to beat. Berlin? I don't know yet.
Anwar MOORE (USA)
My reaction was terrible, otherwise I could have been closer to the 1st place, because on the hurdles I was really floating. At the end I felt I couldn't catch Robles anymore: therefore I needed 10 metres more.
Thomas LONGOSIWA (KEN)
I improved my personal best from 13.17 to 12.52, so I'm very glad. I had hoped for 13.00-13.05, but I felt very good. In the end I missed the experience to get involved in the fight for the first place. You know, I'm still young, only 19. This was my very first 5K in Europe.
Sileshi SIHINE (ETH)
I'm very heappy because of my first place. I had planned a race in 12.50, it is 12.50. Maybe I could have gone faster, 12.47 or 12.49, but it was a tough competition and I really had to win: that was my first concern.
Eliud KIPCHOGE (KEN)
Of course I'm pleased with my chrono (12,50 s). But I'm disappointed to not have won the race. I don't have the feeling that I forced my body to the maximum effort today. The pace should have been faster. Now it was a little bit too slow, we ended the last lap with 5 athletes, and I think that's the reason of my defeat.
Maryam JAMAL (BRN)
I am disappointed. Of course I am glad to be the winner of the race and I have broken my personal best with almost 5 seconds. The opening lap was very fast, that is what I'm disappointed about my race. The whole race I felt comfortable despites Yelena Soboleva running behind me. I think I can run faster.
Yelena SOBOLEVA (RUS)
My coach told me this year to try all kinds of tactics in order to beat Jamal. In Osaka I took the lead, in Zurich and here I tried to follow her. Nothing helps, Jamal is simply too strong for the moment. Maybe next year.
