Brian Boussaer and Jules Hesters have clinched the AVS Cup, the U23 event supporting the Lotto Six Days of Flanders-Ghent. The Belgian pair capped off a dominant week with a devastating display on the final day.
Boussaer and Hesters put another two laps on the rest of the field, amassing 127 points in the process. French duo Vincent Crabos and Florentin Lecamus-Lambert were second. Germany?s Nils Weisspfenning and Moritz Augenstein had to settle for third.
"This victory means a lot", says Hesters. "We were only struggling on the first night, really. That was our own mistake, because we didn?t make a great start in any of the events. We recovered well after that."
Hesters, a Ghent local, also won the U23 six-day race last year, alongside Gerben Thijssen.
