The biggest Australian Granfondo takes place this weekend on a superb course along the Great Ocean Road in Lorne, nearby Melbourne.

The race will attract more than 6000 riders all wanting to take the splendid views over the ocean and experience the climbs of the Otway Range.

The race is organized since 2011 in memory of cyclist Amy Gillett who passed away too early after a cycling accident in Germany when being part of the national team and wants to put the emphasis on more safety on the road for cyclists to reduce the incidence of death and injury of bike riders.

The 120km course starts and finishes in Lorne and is since last year done in the opposite way, starting with a climb to finish along the Great Ocean Road. During the weekend, there are also side events with a hill climb, a cyclocross and some family ridesfor all levels.
