The Austrian event in Mühlbach am Höchkonig is the new qualifier event in the series that has been added to the calendar a few months ago.

The 170km course is challenging with start in Muhlbach and then via the Dientner Sattel (1356m), Filzensattel (1295m), Griessenpass (980m), Embach (1025m), again Dientner Sattel (1356m) to finish on top of Arturhaus (1502m). Total elevation is 3434m.

450 riders from 20 different nationalities will attend the race with former Vuelta winner Laurent Jalabert as most famous participant. Jalabert who retired in 2002 has besides his Vuelta win also victories in the ITT World Championships, two green jerseys and two polka dot jerseys in the Tour and classical victories in Milano-San Remo and La Fleche Wallonne.

After his career, he also took part in the Ironman in Hawai where he proved to still be in excellent condition.
