'Eager to get racing again'
Hi there! A message from Qatar. And yes, the new season has started. I'm looking forward to it. I'm very eager to get racing again. Also, the hunger for nice warm weather was substantial as well.

As you all know, some team mates and myself have been training in Spain recently, much more comfortable and less dangerous than training on slippery roads in Belgium. Hopefully efforts like that will be rewarded later on in the season.

After the Tour of Qatar I'll be participating in the Tour of Oman, the latter of which will be a first to me and makes me curious. After that the road season starts in Belgium, which is always something to look forward to. It is amazing to see how cycling fans gear up for the races year on year! Most likely I'll be seeing many among you during the opening weekend's races.

In one of my previous messages I already had told you about our cats. I'll be posting some pictures on this site soon. They love to be at the centre of attention so I promised them I'll put them online. Thanks due to Yoni, the webmaster!

Righty, I'll leave you to it as there some racing to be done!

cu soon,

Tom
All the best for the New Year!
Hello everybody! It has been a while since I last wrote you. The past few days have been a busy period. One would think of the off season as a quiet period, but that certainly did not apply to me in the past few weeks. I have been training full for some time now, crosscountry most of the time as the weather conditions more often than not do not allow a ride on the road.

Speaking of which: I was very pleased with the number of people showing up for 'Van de weg naar 't veld' ('From the road into the field' a cyclocross race for road riders organised by Tom and Wilfried Peeters, sic). It was a great event! This way I would like to thank everybody who has contributed to that day.

In the meantime our first team camp has passed. In early January another training camp follows and after that the first race will happen again: Qatar.

I keep on training. To all who have sent us a Christmas card: merci! I have enjoyed the Christmas period among my family and with my Lore.

I wish you all the best for the New Year.
Many winter greetings!
Tom
Racing in our living room
The last couple of weeks really have been a roller coaster. One day I hit a low, the next things improved and I could even put up a smile whenever a fan, friend or fellow human expressed genuine support. Quite a relief to be hearing and feeling all that support!

As you probalbly know I did not sit still and I kept on training and preparing for the races that lay ahead.

Several times a day I am sprinting in our living room as well, lead out by three little kittens.

Indeed, you heard well: 3 little kittens. We planned to have two cats, but what if you then have to leave one of three behind? It was too devastating for Lore, so we now proudly own 3 little bandits, called Roxy, Arno and Alfie. I have to admit: quite some atmosphere in the living room!

Lore has got these cats from the cats house in Limburg (www.poezenopvanglimburg.be). They are committed to find new homes for cats and kittens that are found and at our place those three clearly feel like kitten paradise...

I'll move on and prepare for what is still ahead and I hope to be hearing and seeing you all along the roads!

See you then,

Tom
