Henin: 'I would love to be back'
Justine Henin was relieved and satisfied that she has been able to turn the final of the Proximus Diamond Games into a great spectacle to her advantage. And should a tournament still be held in Antwerp next year, yes she will be there again as well.
| Justine Henin: 'It is one of my aims to win at least one edition of every tournament where I have played.' |
Especially for the Flemish fans in a packed Sportpaleis Henin also said a few words in Dutch. "Thanks a lot for your support and enthusiasm. I wish you all the best. Merci beaucoup!"
At the press conference an hour after the match Henin stressed the fact again of how relieved she was. "Three weeks ago I got my knee treated with an infiltration. Would I be fit for Antwerp? In my first matches I certainly did not produce my best tennis, but in the final things went well."
"The knee injury is something chronical, but then again I suffer from various chronical injuries. Thanks to my physiotherapists and the people around me I'm able to be ready again. Of the three tournaments I played this year I won two. Let's look at things the positive side."
| Justine Henin: 'Should there be a next edition, I'll be back for sure.' |
Should Henin feel like taking the diamond racket home for good, she has to win the tournament another two times in the next four years. "Should there be a next edition, I'll be back for sure. Playing a final before 14,000 people is a unique experience. The WTA certainly is open to comments from the players. I would love to help and contribute to the further existence of this wonderful tournament."
