Eunice Jeptoo claimed her first major marathon victory, while Felix Kiptoo Kirwa just missed out on the same, at the Eindhoven Marathon held on 8 October.
After putting three 2nd-place marathon finishes on her resume over the past three years, Eunice Jeptoo finally broke through in claiming her first marathon victory in Eindhoven on Sunday. With her finish time of 2:26:13, Jeptoo improved her personal best by over 5 minutes ('17 Rennes) to break the 2:30:00 barrier for the first time, while finishing over 10 minutes ahead of her nearest competitor.
In the men's competition in Eindhoven, Felix Kiptoo Kirwa likewise reached several career milestones with his 2nd place time of 2:06:13. Although beaten by Festus Talam at the finish by just a single step, the mark improved Kirwa's personal best by just of 2 minutes (2:08:12 at '17 Rotterdam), allowing him to break both the 2:08 and 2:07 barriers for the first time. The time also moves Kirwa to 16th place on the '17 season's world marathon performance chart, his first such ranking inside the top-20.
Other Personae-managed athletes who posted noteworthy performances on the roads in early October included Ruth Jebet in the Groningen 4 miler (1st in 19:16) and Leonard Patrick Komon at the Utrecht Singelloop 10 km (3rd in 28:14).
