Boom: 'Muur should become tradition in Eneco Tour'
Cor Vos
Lars Boom became the overall winner of the Eneco Tour 2012. In the queen stage with the Muur of Geraardsbergen he made the difference. Boom hopes that the Muur will remain part of the course.
"The race went according to plan", says Boom. "We were in control until the finale. Everyonedid their job perfectly and I could finish it. During the race, I noticed Tuft was having trouble. It got worse after he punctured. That's when I knew I'd win. I think this victory is fairly important. I'm really happy, both for myself and for the team."

Boom also said what he thought about the course of the final stage. "It was good to climb the Muur van geraardsbergen a few times. The climb works well for me. The Muur is still really nice. I hope that it'll remain part of the Eneco Tour over the following years.

Boom will be busy the following week. "I'm taking three days off, and then I'm leaving for the Vuelta. I'll be in survival mode the first week. I want to go for a stage victory in week two and three. I also want to do well in the World Championships. I think a tough Vuelta makes for a good preparation.

Ballan was also happy with his stage victory. "I'm happy with this great victory. I'm preparing for the World Championships and this is a nice plus", the Italian rider said.
